Cheese: Jindi Cheese

Jindi Cheese was started in 1985 and it's another one of our all time favourites - located in Gippsland, here in Victoria, in the town of Jindivick. Through the years they have achieved international success, the most recent being the 2004 award for the Worlds Best Brie.

Cheese Name: Supreme Triple Cream

As the name suggests, Triple Cream, this is quite a rich and luscious cheese and requires an average 35% fat content. The milk is sourced from predominately Jersey cows. The cheese is shrouded in a soft white mould and maturation time takes about 5-6 weeks.

A look inside and you are rewarded with a intense buttery cheese with an eye-catching golden hue. You don't just eat this cheese, it melts in your mouth. If you are fond of brie and camembert, then this is a cheese you must try.

  2. Haalo, thanks for reviewing this cheese. I've seen this in the supermarket, but never got around to buying this. I really like brie and camembert, will get this once the current brie finishes :p

  3. It has become a benchmark Australian Cheese. And good on them too.

As a side note to the "Worlds best cheese award", it was granted to Jindi from a cheese show hosted in the US in which the French were not invited to attend.

It's a great claim to fame which those in the industry have all agreed was great spin.

  4. Hope you enjoy it Angie!

Hi Steve - you could well argue what merit does any award have - but if it gets people eating a product that is undoubtedly good, what exactly is the problem?
Just to clarify, when Jindi won the overall award in 2002 it actually beat the Dutch and the French. In 2004 when it won "best brie", France was also involved in the competition.
